Who I am

About me

I first encountered yoga in 1985 and dipped in and out of weekly classes sprinkled with the occasional workshop. My interest in yoga started to deepen during my first pregnancy in 1992 through classes with Chris Fielder. Her teaching connected the body, breath and mind and nurtured the practice of yoga in everyday life.

I began to study more about yoga including the Viniyoga Britain Introductory and Foundation courses and the Veda Valli chanting course. In 1999 I started my personal practice and study with Chris Preist to guide and support my personal yoga journey. I undertook the four year Practitioner Programme (yoga teacher training) with Viniyoga Britain (now the Association of Yoga Studies) taught by Paul Harvey (founder of Viniyoga Britain/cYs). Following the teacher training programme I completed Paul’s two year post graduate course.

I started teaching yoga in 2002 and now teach group classes and individual sessions, yoga in pregnancy, post-natal yoga and yoga in workplaces and schools. I also have also taught yoga for people recovering from addiction.

I am a Teacher member of the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) and a Registered Practitioner member of the Association of Yoga Studies (aYs). I am a Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)Registered Practitioner for Yoga Therapy.

I have taught art/ceramics in both schools and higher education settings and continue to work as a registered nurse in primary health care. I live in Somerset with my partner and our cat. My personal yoga practice continues to support my home and working life.

My yoga studies include:
